Beneath the sheltering canopy of the world’s wildest jungles, raindrops leap gently from leaf to leaf, masking the jungle’s secrets in a cleansing downpour before unwelcome visitors arrive.
Capturing the immense beauty and raw power of this thriving ecosystem through imagery proved to be no small challenge.
Striking the perfect balance, I adopted a painterly approach reminiscent of children’s book illustrations, ensuring it remained sophisticated enough to align with the exhibit’s broader themes.
To reflect the jungle’s mighty roar, I focused on uncovering symbols that represent the richness and diversity of these wild landscapes, narrowing my search to elements that best embody their essence for this exhibit.
Since the event caters to all ages and includes child-friendly sections, I prioritized finding elements that would captivate children with their “cool” factor while refining these concepts into a graphic style that resonates with adults.
Embracing the theme of “The Secrets of the World’s Wildest Jungles,” I chose to represent the act of sharing secrets through bold illustrations of open mouths—those of native people, animals, and plants—capturing intrigue, shock and storytelling.
The final designs are versatile, functioning effectively as a cohesive set of three or as individual marketing materials. Each element is adaptable: the top teeth can serve as a striking header, or the opening can be adjusted to create more or less space as needed.
Additionally, the design doubles as an interactive photo opportunity for visitors. The bold, unique imagery invites people to pose in front of it, creating memorable, shareable moments that bring the exhibit to life.
The black negative space between the top and bottom teeth enhances the design, drawing attention and enticing viewers to engage further. The result is a slightly uncomfortable yet compelling composition that grabs your attention and keeps you looking, unable to turn away.
For typography, I selected bold, bright yellow-orange tones that deliver a striking and cohesive contrast to the illustrations. This color choice amplifies the impact and creates a dynamic visual connection with the theme. The handwritten-style typography subtly evokes the image of a journalist scribbling down their discoveries, reinforcing the theme of uncovering secrets. This detail adds a personal and exploratory touch to the design, aligning with the narrative of documenting the untamed mysteries of the world’s wildest jungles.
Goal: On theme invitations and full-scale bar prop for a themed birthday party.
